On this page you will find a little about the owner (Elf), the kennel and cattery, and the actual site.
I am from Oregon (USA). Online I go by the name of Elf, which comes from a previous cat. Currently I own 32 fish and a dog named Coda. I do plan on getting more fish for both my 29 and 36 gallon aquariums but probably not until I move this summer. Right now I am working part-time as a dog trainer. In the future, I still have not decided on what I will do - being a dog trainer is a blast though and I would love to keep working with animals. Maybe study animal behavior?
Briefly, my history in petz: I bought P3 back in late spring 2003. I joined the Dogz Kennel Club (DKC) in early 2004 and joined the Petz Kennel Club (PKC) forum in February 2004. I became an actual member of the PKC in either August or September 2004 when they allowed new membership. Besides the DKC and PKC, I have also been involved in the CKC, DFA, KCA, LSAPC, Petz Equine Club (PEC), and Virtual Petz Association (VPA). Right now I am only involved actively in the PKC.
Some of the breedz I started out earlier and kept with include Curly Coated Retrievers and Mudik. I am always working to improve my show lines even if I take a short break from a breed.
Sakura is the cattery. I have been showing under this prefix back in late 2004. In fact, there had been a cat with the prefix of Rivas instead before I decided on having my cattery separate from the kennel. Sakura means "cherry blossoms" in Japanese. It has been so long and I don't remember the exact reasoning behind choosing it, but it still fits: one of my favorite breedz that I planned on specializing in is Japanese Bobtails.
As of 2010, I invited Nena to join the Sakura cattery because she was looking for a joint cattery. She has done well with the Minskins and other cat breedz, so I am happy to have her aboard.
Originally the kennel was divided into two parts: Bramblewood and Rivas. Again, I lost my reasoning on this besides myself liking the word "Bramblewood" and using that on my hound, utility/non-sporting, and toy dogz. I used Rivas on my gundog/sporting, terrier, pastoral/herding, and working dogz. Later on in 2008, I decided I wanted a shorter prefix for all of the dogz from my kennel. And I wanted something different than Rivas.
The word "Oakley" came from a guinea pig I showed back when I was in 4-H. The name fit well, and was much better than the combinations of other pet names and other words that did not have as much meaning to me.
I have had over 20 website layouts. I believe this is remodel #21. At one point Bramblewood and Rivas were on separate sites, but they have been combined for the majority of their lifetime since it is easier to work with one layout.
This particular layout came from a template started in Microsoft Expression Web. The colors came from a color scheme search because I personally cannot pick out colors that go really well together or stand out well. I also did not want to have another green or blue or pink website... I always seem to have at least those first two.
